An Overall View of the Convention Activities:

- Creation’s famous Photo Opportunity Area:
Takes place in the rear of the Exhibit Room (Conrad Ballroom). Photo Op tickets can be purchased there. PHOTO OPS that were ordered prior to the convention were e-mailed to patrons. If you did not receive them we have a list at the PHOTO OP area and will check you off there. All other questions on photo ops can also be answered in this area as well (and not at registration). Please arrive 5 minutes prior to photo op times, lines move quickly so we always suggest taking your photo ops first and then going back to other activities like autographs (unless noted). The vast majority of photo ops will be available for pick-up during the convention. A flyer will be given out to all those taking photo ops which will describe when and where photos can be picked up. Some, taken Sunday afternoon, will be mailed.

- Autographing takes place, for the most part, in the Main Auditorium. (Conrad Ballroom) Other instances are described within the schedule.

ANGELIE TANNER “STRANGE NEW WORLDS: NASA’S SEARCH FOR VULCAN AND OTHER TREK PLANETS” Dr. Angelle Tanner is an astronomer working on NASA’s SIM PlanetQuest mission, which will look for planets like the Earth around stars like the sun. She is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the California Institute of Technology and attended both the University of Arizona and UCLA. She has been interested in finding habitable planets outside our solar system since she was quite young. Tanner will discuss the potential of the SIM PlanetQuest spacecraft to detect habitable planets around 40 Eridani A, identified by Gene Roddenberry as the Vulcan star, as well as other well-known star systems in the “Star Trek” universe.

6:20 pm (90 minute show) FREE SCREENING for ALL ATTENDEES (first come first serve in terms of seating). BORG WAR is an award-nominated feature-length movie set in the Star Trek Universe. The amateur filmmaker Geoffrey James created BORG WAR through a technique called machinima, which reprograms computer games to generate raw footage. The resulting footage was then heavily edited to create the finished film. Draft versions of BORG WAR have generated over a million Internet downloads. Tonight’s theatrical debut will feature an improved “cinematic” version with additional scenes and special effects.

Grant (CBS HD Mastering Dept) and Jason Hillhouse (New Wave) in a discussion of how the classic series is embarking on a journey into home entertainment’s new frontier.

6:10 PM COSTUME CONTEST
Star Trek fans get to show off their creativity by coming to this event in costume! Enter the parade dressed as your favorite Star Trek character or make up your own and immerse yourself fully into the Star Trek Universe! There is a junior division for those 14 and younger. First prize for adults is a nifty ONE THOUSAND DOLLAR GIFT CERTIFICATE! So: come dressed to enjoy, get audience applause and perhaps go home a big winner too! Contestants be in the theatre at 5:40pm, and visit registration between 2pm and 5pm to sign up to participate in the contest.

His work can be found in magazines, comic books, webzines, and on his own website, www.robertjeschonek.com Robert will talk about breaking in as a writer, the twists and turns of writing Trek fiction, and some exciting new upcoming missions

5:00 pm “PLUGGED” FILM PREVIEW Robert Michael Conrad and James Nestor will join us again to preview some of their short films that highlight several stars from the sci-fi community including a product placement parody titled, “Plugged”. This latest film was written and directed by Tim Russ and stars Dominic Keating, Gary Graham, Nikita Ager, and Holly-Lynn Johnson (the Bond girl, Bibi, from “For Your Eyes Only”, and star of “Ice Castles”) and Ethan Phillips. Bob and Jim’s new internet sci-fi series, “Outworld” will also be previewed at the convention. Panel discussions of the film will include some of the celebrities as their schedules permit.

5:50 pm DAVID A. WILLIAMS Planetary Scientist
David A. Williams, Ph.D., is a member of the faculty in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona. Inspired to pursue planetary science from Star Trek, he has worked on NASA’s Magellan (Venus) and Galileo (Jupiter) missions, and the European Space Agency’s Mars Express mission. Today’s Topic is quite interesting: don’t miss it... “Red Planet: New Insights into Mars from Recent Planetary Missions”
Dr. Williams will discuss how our impression of Mars is changing with results from the latest missions, including evidence for recent water on the surface.

“Sublight Propulsion for Relativistic Interstellar Travel” Lecturer is Ronald Held and in this presentation he will briefly cover several slower than light but relativistic propulsion methods, one of which is the antimatter rocket. Mr. Held holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. As a private researcher influenced by Star Trek, one of his interests is in faster than light travel.

Zephran Cocuran named his legendary warp ship after her, and her name was Phoenix. This is her story....
